Financial planning for life's long-term goals — Altruistic Wealth Management Alberta

Independent Financial Planning, Insurance & Wealth Management in Alberta

Earning your trust through comprehensive financial planning.

We're an Edmonton-based independent practice working with individuals, families, incorporated professionals, and business owners across Alberta — with the flexibility to meet in person or virtually, whichever fits your life.

A Different Kind of Financial Advice

Most people get their financial advice piecemeal — investments from one place, insurance from another, tax advice from their accountant, estate questions from a lawyer who never speaks to anyone else on the team. The pieces rarely fit together, and the cracks between them are where opportunities (and money) get lost.

We do things differently. As an independent Certified Financial Planner serving Alberta, we look at your full picture — cash flow, risk, investments, taxes, retirement, and estate — and build a written plan that ties it all together. We coordinate with your accountant and lawyer so everyone's pulling the same direction.

We don't sell you products you don't need. We use the right tools — including specific insurance solutions that have powerful tax and estate planning applications — to solve the actual problems in front of you.

Who We Help

Incorporated Professionals

Physicians, dentists, lawyers, engineers, and other incorporated professionals across Alberta. We focus on the strategies most accountants don't address: corporate-owned life insurance, Individual Pension Plans, Health Spending Accounts, and the integrated structures that turn your corporation into a long-term wealth tool.

Business Owners

From early-stage operators to established companies preparing for succession. We help with key person insurance, buy-sell agreements, group benefits, retention strategies, and corporate investment planning that doesn't tie up cash you need for the business.

Individuals & Families

Personal financial planning that goes beyond "what should I invest in." Cash flow, retirement projections, tax-smart withdrawal strategies, life and disability protection, estate planning, and the written plan most people have never actually had.

How We Meet

We're based in Edmonton and meet most often with clients here and across the surrounding area — St. Albert, Sherwood Park, Spruce Grove, and the broader capital region. In-person meetings happen wherever works for you: your home, your office, a coffee shop, or a quiet meeting space we arrange.

For clients elsewhere in Alberta — Calgary, Red Deer, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, Fort McMurray, Grande Prairie, and beyond — we work primarily through secure virtual meetings. The advice is identical, the documents are shared securely, and there's no driving across the province for a one-hour conversation.

Most of our clients prefer a mix: virtual for routine reviews and quick questions, in-person for the bigger conversations. Whatever fits your life, we can make work.

About Trevor

Altruistic Wealth Management is led by Trevor Belanger, a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) serving clients across Alberta since 2010. The practice was founded on a single belief: financial advice should always be in the client's best interest — not the advisor's, not the company's, not the product's.

That belief shaped everything about how Altruistic works today: independent, integrated, transparent, and always written down.
